I am anti-advanced statistics. It’s a weird hill to die on, but I’m a weirdo. I am one of those cranks that says, “the nerds are ruining baseball.” The shift was birthed by nerds. I also blame them for the “strikeout or hit a homer” era. Somehow advanced statistics gave us both James Harden and Marcus Smart.

That said, I read Lon Shapiro’s advanced statistication articles and find them both enjoyable and fun. I don’t know why they don’t attract more attention, but the world is a weird and stupid place.

I started watching tennis again because of Lon and Lisa Renee. There are lots of things I don’t like about tennis, but I like it now as much as a couple of other sports. My enjoyment of NBA basketball has been seriously enhanced by Lon and Brandon Anderson.
