I’ve recently become obsessed with Cthonic deities and rituals. Snakes, because they are “from the ground” and possess “deep knowledge of the earth” are Cthonic symbols. Most of the dieties associated with them are female. That’s why there is a “snake lady” at the sideshow and not “snake dude”.
